BRISTOL TYPE 142

Bristol Type 142 - The Bristol Type 142 was designed by Frank Barnwell during 1933-34 as a high-speed transport with possible applications as a bomber and was built in civil guise with seats for two pilots and six passengers to the order of Lord Rothermere. First flown on April 12, 1935, the Type 142 was powered by two 650 hp Mercury VIS2 radials and, named Britain First, was presented to the Air Ministry in July 1935 and, with the seri-al K7557 replacing the original R-12 mark-ing, subsequently operated on experimental and transport duties at RAE Farnborough until 1942.
