DE HAVILLAND MOTH

DE HAVILLAND DH.60 MOTH - Two-seat lightplane originally flown on February 22, 1925 and built in large numbers and several distinct versions up to 1931. Military customers included Egyptian Air Force (six DH.60T Moth Trainers), Royal Iraqi Air Force (five DH.60T and five DH.60M), RCAF (89 assorted DH.60M, DH.60G, DH.60X and Genet-Moths, some Canadian-built), SAAF (one DH.60M), RAAF (DH.60, DH.60G and DH.60M), RNZAF (four DH.60G and four DH.60M), the air forces of Denmark, Norway and others. Examples of the Moth were still serving in many of these countries in 1939 and were joined by civil machines impressed as trainers and for communica-tions duties, including over 140 in the UK and 15 in India for the RAF, 48 in Australia for RAAF and at least 16 for SAAF in South Africa.
