FAIREY SPEARFISH - Designed to Specification O.5/43 as a suc-cessor for the Barracuda, the Fairey Spearfish was a two-seat torpedo/dive-bomber, powered by a 2,470 hp Centaurus 58. The first pro-totype (RA356) flew on July 5, 1945, and one other prototype and two production air-craft flew after the war against Japan had ended, further production then being can-celled. The Fairey Spearfish was the largest and heaviest single-engined aircraft built in Britain at the time of its completion.
