GENERAL AIRCRAFT MONOSPAR ST-4, GENERAL AIRCRAFT MONOSPAR ST-6, GENERAL AIRCRAFT MONOSPAR ST-10 and GENERAL AIRCRAFT MONOSPAR ST-12 - The General Aircraft Monospar series of lightplanes was developed from 1931 onwards to exploit a system of construction evolved by H J Stieger, for which purpose General Aircraft Ltd was founded. First in a family of related twin-engined light transports using General Aircraft Monospar wing construction, the prototype General Aircraft Monospar ST-4 flew in May 1932. Three four-seat General Aircraft Monospar ST-4s with 85 hp Pobjoy R engines, impressed for service with Anti-Aircraft Cooperation Units, of which one modified in 1941 to have retractable undercarriage. One General Aircraft Monospar ST-4 impressed by SAAF. One five-seat General Aircraft Monospar ST-6, with retractable gear and Pobjoy Rs, and one similar General Aircraft Monospar ST-10 with 90 hp Niagara Us and fixed gear, powered by two 130 hp Gipsy Majors; two impressed for AACU use in 1940. Data for ST-4; other variants a little heavier and faster.
