GLOSTER F.5/34

GLOSTER F.5/34 - Two prototypes of the single-seat fighter designed by H P Folland and H E Preston to Specification F.5/34 were built in 1937, the first flight being made by May of that year. Powered by the 825 hp Mercury VIII and with a design armament of eight 0.303 in (7.7 mm) Browning guns in the wings, both prototypes (K5604, K8089) were in use for experimental flying until May 1941.

Max speed, 316 mph (509 km/h) at 16,000 ft (4,876 m). Gross weight, 5,400 Ib (2,449 kg). Span, 38ft 2 in (11.5m). Length, 32ft (9.7 m).
