HAFNER GYROPLANE

 

HAFNER GYROPLANE - The HAFNER A.R.III MK 2 GYROPLANE was one of a series of experimental autogiros designed by Raoul Hafner, the single-seat A.R.III (G-ADMV), powered by a 90 hp Pobjoy Niagara, first flew on February 6, 1937. It went to the RAE Farnborough in August 1939 and was used for research until mid-1941 when it was impressed by the RAF (as DG670) but not subsequently flown.

Max speed, 120 mph (193 km/h). Gross weight, 900 Ib (409 kg). Rotor diameter, 32 ft 10 in (10.00m). Overalljength, 17ft 10 in (5.44m).
