HANDLEY PAGE HP.75 - As part of a general investigation into the characteristics of tailless aircraft, under the direction of G V Lachmann, Handley Page designed a small twin-engined research air-craft during 1937/38, the HANDLEY PAGE HP.75. Built by Dan Aircraft Ltd, it was first flown on June 25, 1943, marked H-0222, and known informally in the company as the Manx. Powered by two 130 hp Gipsy Major Us, it was flown spo-radically until April 1946 and designated HP.75 in mid-1945. Max speed, 146 mph (235 km/h). Gross weight, 4,000 Ib (1,813 kg). Span, 39ft 10 in (12.19 m). Length, 18ft 3 in (5.59 m). |
