HESTON PHOENIX - Of six examples of the five-seat Heston Phoenix built in 1935/37, three airworthy in the UK in 1939 were impressed in March 1940, as X9393 (G-AEMT), X2891 (G-AESV) and X9338 (G-AEYX). First Heston Phoenix flew on August 18, 1935, with a 205 hp DH Gipsy Six; those impressed had Gipsy Six Srs Us and DH vp propellers. Two of the Heston Phoenix used by ATA Ferry Pilot Pools were lost during the war; G-AESV survived until 1952.
