HESTON T.1/37
- One prototype (L7706) built in 1938 to requirements of Specification
T.l/37, for a primary RAF trainer powered by a 205 hp DH Gipsy Queen I.
On test at A & AEE in September 1939, then, transferred to Boscombe
Down, but performance found unsatisfactory and became instructional air-frame
late 1940 after T.l/37 requirement dropped. Second prototype (L7709) may
not have been completed and a third (P8804) was certainly not built.
Max speed, 159 mph (256 km.h). Time to 10,000 ft (3,050 m), 24 min. Service
ceiling, 12,800 ft (3,901 m). Empty weight, 2,653 Ib (1,203 kg). Gross
weight, 3,250 Ib (1,474 m). Span, 42ft (12.8 m). Length, 31 ft 8 in (9.65
