MILES WHITNEY STRAIGHT - The Miles M.11 Whitney Straight was a side-by-side cabin monoplane for club and private flying, first flown at Woodley on May 3, 1936. Production totalled 50 up to 1938, of which 21 impressed in 1940/41 for the RAF and three others used as company 'hacks' throughout the war, with civil registrations. One other Miles Whitney Straight impressed in India, one in Egypt and one (with civil registration) for the Malayan Volunteer Air Force. Three Miles Whitney Straight impressed in New Zealand for RNZAF duty all survived the war. Standard Miles M.11 Whitney Straight powered by 130 hp DH Gipsy Major I. Max speed, 145 mph (233 km/h).
