MILES MARTINET - The Miles M.25 Martinet was a specialised target-tug (first in the RAF) derived from Master II for production to Specification 12/41, with controls removed from rear cockpit, canopy modified to facilitate operation of side-mounted winch for flag or sleeve drogue targets stowed in rear fuselage, and lengthened front fuselage. First of two prototypes (LR241) flown on April 24, 1942, followed by total of 1,722 Martinet T.T.Mk Is delivered from July 1942 to 1945, to serve primarily at Air Gunnery Schools, AA Co-operation Sqns and OTUs. A few also used on ASR duties (No 269 Sqn) and-506 diverted from RAF contracts for FAA use. Ten ex-RAF to Portugal starting September 1943 (final three post-war).

M.50 Queen Martinet: Radio-controlled target drone version of Martinet inspired by Specification Q.I0/43. First of two prototypes (PW979) flown late 1944 and 69 built before production contracts terminated in 1946 (but four scrapped before delivery). Three to FAA and 18 more Martinet TT Mk Is converted to Queen Martinet post-war.
