MILES SPARROWHAWK

MILES SPARROWHAWK - Using standard M.2 components, the Miles M.5 Sparrowhawk was a single-seat opencockpit racing aircraft, first flown on August 19,1935, and powered by a 138 hp Gipsy Major I Srs II. Of five examples built, two were purchased in February 1940 for high speed flap testing at the RAE Farnborough, to which they were delivered with Class B markings of U-3 and U-5. The former became G-AGDL in December 1941 and survived the war as a company 'hack'.
