MILES AEROVAN - The MILES M.57 AEROVAN was a 1944 design for a small, cheap, short-haul freighter with military potential, operating from small landing strips. Of all-wooden construction and powered by two 150 hp Blackburn Cirrus Major IIA engines, prototype (U-0248) built at Liverpool Road (as L.R.4) and first flown at Woodley on January 26, 1945. Entered production for civil use post-war. Max speed, 130 mph ( 209 km/h).
