PERCIVAL GULL

PERCIVAL GULL - Three-seat sporting/touring aircraft, flown in prototype form in 1932 and 29 built in initial Percival GullFour form, followed by 19 of Percival Gull Six version powered by 200 hp DH Gipsy Six engine. Two of latter impressed in 1940 for RAF, but one destroyed before so used. One Percival GullFour (G-ADOE, with 130 hp Gipsy Major Srs I) and one Percival Gull Six (G-ADFA) retained civil marks for wartime service with Blackburn and Vickers-Armstrongs. One other British-registered Percival Gull Six impressed in 1940 to serve in Middle East and two (perhaps three) Indian-registered aircraft impressed in India, 1942. One Percival Gull Six (the last produced) impressed in South Africa in 1940. One Percival Gull Four impressed in New Zealand, November 1939, written-off in service with Communications Flight, July 1940.
