TAYLORCRAFT PLUS D - Two-seat light aircraft derived from Taylercraft Plus C, with 90 hp Blackburn Cirrus Minor I engine. Eleventh British airframe completed as first Model D (T9120) for Army trials at Old Sarum in December 1939 in AOP role. Five civil Taylercraft Plus Ds built late-1939, all impressed or allocated for use at School of Army Co-operation by 'D' Flight (later, No 1424 Flight, RAF, and then 43 OTU), and evaluated in France, April/May 1940. Cruising speed, 90 mph (145 km/h). Gross weight, 1,400 Ib (636 kg). Span, 36 ft 0 in (10.98 m). Length, 22ft ll'h in (6.99 m). |
