VICKERS G.4/31

VICKERS G.4/31 - Single prototype K2771 purchased by Air Ministry for evaluation to meet Specification G.4/31. Vickers Type 253 biplane with 620 hp Bristol Pegasus IIM3 engine, first flown August 16, 1934. Requirement eventually satisfied by Vickers Wellesley based on Type 246 monoplane built as PV to same specification. K2771 then became engine test-bed for Bristol Aeroplane Co at Filton, surviving to 1940. Successively fitted with 690 hp Pegasus IIIM3 and 980 hp Pegasus X. Max speed, 161 mph (259 kmlh) at 4,500 ft (1,372 m). Gross weight, 8,350 Ib (3,788 kg). Span, 52ft 7 in (16.04 m). Length, 37 ft 0 in (11.28m).
