IAVRO 688 TUDOR - Intended for post-war commercial use, the Avro Tudor was the first British transport aircraft with a pressurised cabin. Although it had no military applications, it qualifies for a mention at this site as it flew before VJ-Day, on June 14, 1945. This first flight was made by the first of two prototypes ordered in September 1944 (as TT176 and TT181) carrying neither its military nor its civil registration, G-AGPF. |
