AVRO 691 LANCASTRIAN -
Following development of the Lancaster XPP for TCA, six more Lancaster
Mk Xs were more extensively converted with elon-gated nose and tail cones,
3'/2-ton (3 560-kg) mail capacity, windows in the rear fuse-lage and ten
passenger seats. Operated by TCA on North Atlantic route, 1944/45, and
known as Lancastrians.
Avro Lancastrian C Mk I: Basic Lancaster I airframe adapted for
transport duties to Specification 16/44, similar to Victory Aircraft conversion
in Canada. Nine passen-gers, plus freight and mail. 1,635 hp Merlin T.24/2
engines. Twenty-three built, 1944/45, on RAF contract and transferred
to BOAC for operation on UK-Australia route, commencing May 31, 1945.
Subsequent marks built post-war.
