HAWKER NIMROD

HAWKER NIMROD - The Hawker Nimrod was a single-seat fleet fighter, with interchangeable wheel/float undercarriage, developed under Camm's direction in 1930 to comply with Specification 16/30 and first flown on October 14, 1931. Production totalled 56 Mk I and 30 Mk II for FAA. None remained in front-line service by September 1939, but a few surviving Mk IIs flew with No 757 and, briefly, No 759 training units until 1941. The Hawker Nimrod II was powered by the 608 hp R-R Kestrel V. Twelve Hawker Nimrods (10 built in Denmark at the Orlogsvaerftet naval dockyards) delivered to the Naval Air Service (Marine Flyvevaesenets) in 1934-36 were front-line fighter equipment when Germany attacked Denmark in April 1940, but saw no action.
