HAWKER OSPREY

HAWKER OSPREY - Essentially a navalised Hawker Hart, the production Hawker Osprey first flew in 1932, conforming to Specification 19/30 and featuring folding wings and interchangeable wheel/float u/c. Production for the FAA totalled 132, of which a few survived to see wartime service. Succeeded in the original fighter/reconnaissance role, they flew as target-tugs and advanced trainers with Nos 755, 758, 759 and 780 Sqns, some until early 1943. The Hawker Osprey was powered by the 630 hp R-R Kestrel IIMS (Kestrel V in Osprey IV, to Spec 26/35).
